About the Role

Kolomolo is looking for an experienced Data Platform Product Manager to take ownership of product management for a complex data platform environment.

This is a hands-on Product Manager role positioned at the intersection of technology, platform engineering, and business needs. You will work closely with the Head of Platform, Technical Leads, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure the platform team is focused on the right priorities, at the right time, with clear outcomes and effective delivery.

You will not be expected to make architecture decisions yourself. Instead, your responsibility will be to create clarity around what needs to be delivered, why it matters, how it should be prioritised, and whether the expected outcomes are being achieved.

 What You’ll Be Doing

• Own and prioritise the platform backlog at Feature level, ensuring scope and priorities are clear.

• Shape incoming demand into well-defined Features with clear acceptance criteria.

• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business and technical needs and translate them into actionable platform priorities.

• Manage capacity across different workstreams and help maintain a healthy, transparent delivery flow.

• Identify delivery bottlenecks, ageing work, dependencies, and capacity risks early.

• Serve as a key communication point between the platform team and its stakeholders.

• Translate technical topics into clear, outcome-oriented communication for non-technical stakeholders.

• Run structured feedback loops to understand stakeholder needs, pain points, and emerging requirements.

• Coordinate dependencies, delivery risks, and release readiness across platform work.

• Ensure changes, releases, and handovers are properly aligned and communicated.

• Support strong service adoption and documentation standards, ensuring platform services are understandable and easy to consume.

• Work with the Head of Platform and Technical Leads on platform vision, roadmap, service catalogue, and strategic direction.

• Collaborate with engineering teams during planning and refinement to ensure priorities and outcomes are understood.

 What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines strong Product Management fundamentals with enough technical understanding to operate confidently in a platform engineering environment.

You should bring:

• Experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product Manager, Platform Product Manager, or in a similar role.

• Experience working with data platforms, cloud platforms, infrastructure, developer platforms, or technically complex products/services.

• Strong backlog management and prioritisation skills.

• Experience managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.

• Ability to translate technical complexity into clear business and product language.

• Good understanding of modern software/platform delivery processes.

• Experience working closely with engineers, architects, Technical Leads, or platform teams.

• Strong understanding of dependencies, delivery risks, capacity planning, and release coordination.

• A structured and disciplined approach to product management.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

• Professional working proficiency in English.

You’ll be successful in this role if you

Think ahead rather than simply managing tickets. You understand emerging needs, dependencies, delivery risks, and stakeholder expectations before they become problems.

You are comfortable challenging priorities and protecting the team from unstructured demand or scope creep, while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

You also understand the boundary between product and engineering: you own the priorities, requirements, outcomes, and stakeholder alignment, while technical and architectural decisions remain with the appropriate engineering and technical leadership.

What this role is not

This is not a Project Manager or Scrum Master position focused primarily on timelines and ceremonies.

It is also not an architecture role. You will work closely with technical experts, but you will not be expected to independently dictate implementation or architecture decisions.

The role is centred around product ownership, platform strategy, prioritisation, stakeholder management, delivery coordination, and measurable outcomes.
